Even though you subscribe the 384kbps or 3.6Mbps Celcom 3G broadband package, it does not guarantee that you will get the maximum speed.

Speedtest is a website that allows you to check your broadband speed. When you visit Speedtest website, it will locate your location based on your IP address. Then it will display servers that near to you. The recommended server is mark with yellow. You can choose the recommended server or you can choose other server to start the test.

It will start with the download test first and then it runs the upload test. After both tests are completed, Speedtest will display the result in .gif image which you can use to share on your website or in forum.

After I subscribing the Celcom 3G broadband, I always check the connection speed when each time I login. I just want to know how much speed that I get for that session. But 3, 4 days before, the Celcom 3G broadband got problem in UTM Skudai. They said that there is a problem with the Celcom transmitter in UTM but it will be fixed this 11th November.

But yesterday, I got a phone call from Celcom customerline. They asked me to test the speed connection and wow! The speed has improved and I got HSDPA signal. Maybe they have upgraded the network in UTM. See the image above.

Although I subscribe the 384kbps package, but I can surf faster than 384kbps because my friend said that Celcom gives extra speed access until February 2008. So for those who connect using HSDPA modem, you can surf faster even though you subscribe with 384kbps package.

"ByeBye" Talking Trojan ?

BotVoice.A was first found by Panda Lab is the first trojan that can talk. It talk by using the built-in speech function in Windows. The trojan will repeatedly saying this message:

"You have been infected I repeat You have been infected and your system files has been deleted. Sorry. Have a Nice Day and bye bye…"

Hear the voice.....

This trojan cannot spread from computer to computer by itself but it spreads via email with attached files, usb drive, P2P sharing networks, etc. Once your computer get infected, it will not allow you to use files with these extension, BAT, COM, EXE and MP3 files. And it also disables Task Manager and the Windows Registry Editor.

Currently the threat level is medium. So better you update your antivirus definition now.

Beware for all Yahoo mail users. Don’t open email that came from av3@yahoo.com address with subject “New Graphic Site“. A new worm targetting Yahoo Web based email has been spotted in the wild. The worm targets address with the yahoo.com and yahoogroups.com.

This worm arrives as a message containing Javascript. When the user open the email, the worm will spread to other users in Yahoo address book.

So, better use Gmail !!! Beware !

Worm Attacks by Barack Obama ? ^o^

What will do if U.S. President Barack Obama’s face, pop up on your desktop every Monday morning? That is not a joke. It is the Obama worm.

The Obama worm was first spotted last Monday after it infected PCs at a preparatory school in Metairie, Luisiana and was first reported by Walling Data, a value-added reseller in Claremont, North Carolina. Because the damage is not big and only infected a few systems, the antivirus companies does not considered it as a serious threat.

It spreads via USB drive and install itself automatically when you insert the USB drive to the system. It is like the Brontok viruses where it using the Windows autorun feature to spread the attack. Luckily, Obama worm does not steal your credit card number or turn your PC into a remote-controlled zombie system. It is designed to float a small picture of Obama at the bottom right corner of your desktop all day every Monday.

But because it is so badly written, the Obama worm gradually renders any PC it is run on completely useless. It is also hard to know whether your PC have been infected or not because Obama worm is not detected by any antivirus programs. But, if you see Obama face on your desktop on Monday, that’s mean you already infected with the Obama worm.

In my opinion, Google Chrome will be the best web browser and can beat Firefox very easily. This is because Google have studied everything from the data that they have collected from us before. Especially for those who are using Google Toolbar and Google Desktop. From the information they have gathered, Google can learn how the users think and how to make a powerful web browser that can give what the users want. After few years of research, here it comes, Google Chrome.

And also, if you use Google Chrome, Google will get more information and data about you. From the web history, emails, websites and everything that you do using Google Chrome, they will know. I am not sure whether this is true or not because I don’t have any facts to prove it. But still, if you think carefully, you will see how Google is trying to be evil. They try to make all people using their products such as Google Analytics, Google Earth, Google Toolbar, Google Desktop, Google Mail, etc. and at the same time give them more information for their next product.

Anyway, everything that I said here is just my opinion.

CWCheat - Cheats for PSP games ? really good

8 years ago, I love to play my PS-X games with GameShark. With GameShark, I can run cheats to pass any levels easily without have to struggle hard. I also can equip myself with unlimited of money, maximum armor, powerful weapons and have infinite health. But how about PSP? Does it have any cheat devices or code breakers that we can use?

CWCheat is the first cheat device that available for PSP. With CWCheat you can choose which cheats that you want to use and beat the game easily. You also can insert new cheat codes or just download the cheat database from the developer website which currently has more than 7500 cheats. The installation is not really difficult. Copy and paste CWCheat, enable it in Recovery mode and start playing games with cheats.

CWCheat is not physically device like GameShark. It is a software where you can copy and paste the files into the PSP memory card. CWCheat is also easy to use because just holding the Select button for 3 seconds, CWCheat menu will be displayed on the screen and you can choose which cheats that you want to enable while your are in the game. In the database, you have more than 7500 cheats that you can choose from. Although the database contains more than 7500 cheats but the file size is less than 1MB.

One of the problem that keep occurring when using CWCheat is, some of the cheats will make your PSP hangs and the PSP will shut down automatically. This happened because some of the cheats are not compatible with the game and will make the PSP to stop working. CWCheat is only can be run on a customized firmware. So, if you are using an original firmware, you have to convert it to customized firmware first before you can start using it.

As for the conclusion, CWCheat is a must for all PSP users. Although you love to challenge yourself but sometimes you might have to play the game with cheats.

I have Windows XP installed in my PC and have a chance to try Vista Start Menu with pro registration. My first impression about this software is, quite difficult at the first time but very convenient after several times usage.

But Vista Start Menu is not like our normal Vista start menu. It is totally different. The thing that I like the most is the folder segmentation that it provides. Usually, when we install new software, the program folder created will be placed at different area at the Start Menu. When this happen, we will take some time to find where the program folder located. But with Vista Start Menu, you will able to find the folder much faster.

Vista Start Menu is the convenient alternative to the plain Start menu you find in Windows XP and Windows Vista. The program uses your cognitive abilities (visual memory, reflexes,etc.); however, while it is easily understandable for beginners, it is also highly efficient for experienced users.

As we know, Firefox has problem with the memory usage. It makes the Firefox load slow, use too many resources and drag our computer down. Here are 5 tips on how you can use to handle and improve Firefox memory usage

1. Reduce memory usage when minimize
This tip will reduce the memory usage when each time you minimize your Firefox. Actually what it does is, Firefox will let Windows to claiming back the memory used when it minimize.

Start up Firefox
Type in about:config in the address bar and hit Enter
Right click and choose New > Boolean
Type config.trim_on_minimize in the pop-up box and hit Enter
Select True and hit Enter.
Restart your Firefox

2. Fixed cache capacity
Every time new page is loaded, Firefox will cache the page so it doesn’t need to load again to be redisplayed. By default, this setting was set to -1 which mean, Firefox use the cache memory depends on your RAM size. Here is how to fix the cache capacity use for your Firefox.

Start up Firefox
Type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter
In the filter, enter this string browser.cache.memory.capacity
If you set to 0, Firefox will not cache any pages. If you want to customize to other value, read here.

Note: browser.cache.memory.enable must be True if you decide to change the integer.

3. Limit pages stored in memory
Every page you viewed will be stored in memory. Although it looks like the same as cache, but it is differ. Firefox will save the page you visited in memory to let improve its performance when you click Back and Forward button. The string that handles this setting is browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers

Start up Firefox
Type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter
In the filter, enter this string browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers
By default, it was set to -1 which mean, Firefox will automatically decide maximum pages to be stored in memory. Change the value to 0 will stop Firefox from store any pages in memory. If you want to use other value, read here for more info.

4. Use less extension
This is really simple tips. Use to many extensions will let your Firefox to use more RAM. Use only extensions that you usually use to minimum the memory usage. Uninstall unwanted extensions because some of the extensions can cause memory leak. And upgrade your extensions to the latest version may fix the problems.

Extra Tips
Actually I want to make this as tip number 5 but it is not really a tip. It is just extra information about Firefox in dealing with memory. If you want to know your current memory usage, you can type this

about:cache?device=memory

in the address bar and hit Enter. Firefox will display your current number of entries, maximum storage size, storage in use and inactive storage. [tags]firefox, tips, tricks, memory, ram, extensions[/tags]
